(Al-2) The central vignette is a map and tree inside an oval (the first Alabama state arms) in black ink on white paper and �10" in center oval. This is a first series note with plate letter �E� and serial #49,xxx, and imprint, �Eng'd by J. T. Paterson & Co Augusta, GA.� Issued at Montgomery January 1st 1863, it was signed by Governor John Gill Shorter and is in clean, crisp condition with just a couple of tiny pinholes visible when held to the light.
