 17 Feb 1864 issue (T 69) with Richmond capitol at top C.G. Memminger at right. Memminger was the key man in the history of Confederates States currency. He served as the secretary of the treasury from 1861 - 1864. Before the war he was chairman of the finance committee in the South Carolina legislature and a key advocate of public education. The note is black and pink on white; the back is blue with 5s in medallions. Plate letter “H” with serial number too faded to read, this is a standard, representative $5 note with no tears or frays, but not outstanding.
