N611 - CSA $10 Note

97.50
(T-46a) A 2 September 1862 issue, this note features Commerce reclining on a cotton bale with ships in the background, a bust of R. M. T. Hunter (CS cabinet member) in an oval lower right. Its serial # is 53,xxx; its plate letter is I It was printed by Hoyer & Ludwig, but this issue does not bear their imprint. The (A) variety of this note reads, Six month after a treaty of Confederate States. Just over 600,000 of these were issued, really an 1861 note dated 1862 in error but still placed in circulation. It was printed on fairly heavy, durable paper and this one is still in extra fine condition but has two cut out (semi-circle) cancellations at the bottom. It remains a desirable note because of the dating error, the error in month for months and because of the limited number issued.
