H69 - M1860 Cavalry Saber

$797.50
This is the light cavalry saber that was introduced in 1859 and 1860 to replace the old, heavier M1840 ?wrist breaker.? This one is faintly marked Emerson and Silver/Trenton NJ and the reverse US / 1861. Emerson and Silver was under government contract to produce 30,000 swords between August 1862 and September 1865. The overall condition of this one is extremely good. The blade retains @ 80% of its original luster. The scabbard is in excellent shape and has been given an even brass-like finish so that it perfectly matches the hilt. (This is not a coating of paint such as was often found on GAR specimens). The grip and wire are very good and original to the sword. A most handsome and displayable sword and scabbard.
