D435 - Amber-Colored Southern-Made Apothecary Bowls

A pair of light yellowish, semi-glazed bowls, these came from an old Alabama medical collection. While their exact use is unknown, it is thought that they were probably used as containers for mixing powders, although it is possible that they were used as cupping devices. The larger one measures 2_" tall x 2" in diameter at the top, tapering to1_ across the base. The smaller stands not quite 1_ x 1_ across the top x _ across the bottom. They are in very fine condition, but the smaller one has one small chip in the rim.
