Usually worn hung from a cord around the neck by NCO's or officer, these were used to coordinate troop movements when voice commands could not be heard. Commands during battle were given by three methods: bugle calls, signal flags and whistles. This whistle is made of horn, is barrel shaped and measures 1 3/4" x 1/2" in diameter. It is in excellent condition.
