Playing on these was just another way for the troops to amuse themselves during long encampments. They were popular as they were both small & inexpensive.This is a standard-size mouth organ, 3� long and 2� at its widest across the top. The steel spring extends almost an inch below the bottom legs which are arched at the top to make an almost scroll design. Down the back of each leg is the word �England.� Most often these are made of a single piece of iron welded into shape. This one, however, appears to be made of three distinct iron pieces. It is one of the more attractive little harps I have seen
