This is the handsome document imprinted with the Eagle, shield, flag and arrows. It allows that Private William H. Sampsell of Captain E. French's �E� Company of the 11th Michigan Infantry was discharged 16 September 1865 in Nashville, Tennessee by reason of General Orders No 94 issued by the War Dept & Special Orders No 63 from the Department of the Tennessee. Sampsell was born in Snyder, Pennsylvania & was 26 years of age at the time of his discharge. He stood 5' 8" tall, had a light complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair. By occupation he was a farmer. He served a one year term.
